This variety has seven black bands, with bold black-and-white contrast and blue tones on the head and fins.
Cyphotilapia frontosa are deep-water predators that do best in the company of other large, calm cichlids from Lake Tanganyika, such as Altolamprologus compressiceps.
Reaching a length of 10-13” they need large aquariums of at least 125 gallons.
